Current
Situation of Shotokan Karate Association of Thailand
In
2000, Karate-do has been included in Thailand National Games by
the sincere efforts of Thailand Karate-do Federation (TKF). At present
Shotokan Karate Association of Thailand with Sensei Omura has four
(4) Assistant Instructors, but the ever-growing new enrolments make
it extremely vital for Shotokan Karate Association of Thailand to
have more instructors.
We need the cooperation and coordination of all members to
deal this situation and plan out a way to develop our association.
The
Activities of Shotokan Karate Association of Thailand

Daily Practice : the
major activities that all members have to participate.

Kyu
/ Dan Examination (every 2-3 months)
- using the standard of Japan Karate Association (JKA)
- collect examination fee, and provide the Diploma for
black belt Karateka (directly up to JKA)

Karate-do
Gashuku (Camp) for physical and mental development of Karateka

New
Year Party (W.T.C. Beer Garden), sponsored by Singha Beer

Kagami
Biraki, Mochi Tsuki in every year as the open ceremony of all
Budo

(Karate-do Championship)

inside Thailand
- Thailand Shoto Cup Championship by Shotokan Karate Association
of Thailand (around September October every year)
- All Thailand Karate-do Championship by Thailand Karate-do
Federation (TKF)

- Shoto World Cup Championship by Japan Karate Association
(JKA), every 2 years. In year 2000, Shotokan Karate Association
of Thailand sent 9 Karatekas to participate in this world
tournament.
- Sea Games for all South East Asian Countries through the
coordination of Thailand Karate-do Federation (TKF), Asia
Karate-do Federation (AKF), and Sports Authority of Thailand.
- Asian Games for all Asian Countries through the coordination
of Thailand Karate-do Federation (TKF), Asia Karate-do Federation
(AKF), and Sports Authority of Thailand.
- Asian Karate-do Championship through the coordination
of Thailand Karate-do Federation (TKF) and Asia Karate-do
Federation (AKF).

Social
Responsibility : Shotokan Karate Association of Thailand provides
the knowledge and training of how to use Karate-do for self-defense
in real situations, and also issues booklets about Shotokan
Karate-do.

At present, in Thailand, there are 2 Karate Associations
(Shoto-kan and Goju-ryu) and both are affiliated to Thailand
Karate-do Federation (TKF).
Currently, the 2 major organizations in the world
are World Karate-do Federation (WKF) and International Tradition
Karate-do Federation (ITKF). Since last 20 years, these 2 world
organizations are trying to make Karate-do an Olympic Game; and
it is expected to be included in year 2004.
